Is this recipe still good using ground turkey? I know I’ve substituted some recipes using ground turkey and it didn’t taste well. If not, any alternatives to this recipe?

    • Budget Savvy Diva

I would use more pepper — but it works

    • Amy C.

I havn’t bought “real” ground beef in years. Ground turkey is so much more inexpensive. The pnly thing I use ground beef for is 1/2 and 1/2 for meatloaf.

  • Amy C.

I would totally add bacon as well!!

  • Abigail Cappel

This recipe sounds delicious. I’m sharing it on my blog under a post called recipes I want to try!!

      Sure 🙂

  • Heather p

When do you add the garlic powder, with the meat or sauce?

    • Watson

      Meat

  • Jessika

Instead of the shredded cheddar and milk, I made a béchamel cheese sauce, since cheddar always seizes up into a ball for me. Great recipe and very filling! Thanks!

  • Renee

This was really good and so easy to make! Thanks!

  • Ginny

The sauce wasn’t very creamy. I think I’ll have to tweak it some. But the flavor is all there! Thx!

  • Olivia

My girls and husband really enjoyed this. We’ll definitely make it again! I needed to add more milk as I made it about a half hour before we ate it, but it was still delicious! Thank you!

  • Dianne

I thought I’d try this and got into making it and found out I didn’t have enough shredded cheddar cheese. I improvised. I added some mozzerella & queso blanco to the cheddar. It was very good. One of the kids wanted me to leave the burger meat out next. I think I like it better with.

  • Jenna

Do you use grated parmesan cheese?

  • Allie Talley

I can’t wait to try this!

  • Nicole

Good. Added some dijon mustard and a little velveta to the sauce to give it more of a cheeseburger flavor.

  • Vmf

I just finished making this…. You need a lot more milk than what the recipe calls for I also added whipping cream to help loosen the cheese and stir stir stir stir until you get your desired consistency.. It’s a good recipe will do again maybe add something with a little color like corn or pimentos

  • Danielle

I agree with Jessika; better if you make the cheese sauce from a roux….prevents the cheese from balling up or separating. It also makes it much more flavourful and creamy.

  • fenya

Thought this looked really good and simple. Yet my cheese sauce would not combine no matter how long I stirred. Wont be attempting again 🙁

  • Karin

I’ve made this a bunch of times and its delicious! I always use ground turkey instead of ground beef.

[…] Cheeseburger Pasta from Budget Savy Diva. This is one of those recipes that can replace those boxed pasta dinners with that powder that turns into a sauce. What is that stuff? And why wouldn’t you make it this way since it is SOOO easy. Reed is a noodle fan and like Randy with the tortilla shells, Reed will eat anything if it mixed with pasta. […]

Do you know the serving size and nutritional information?

  • Jane

I found this recipe to be very dry…..It needed more sauce

  • Desiree

I followed the recipe to a tee and it was very very bland. Will not be making it again.

  • Samantha

Recipe says garlic powder but it’s not in directions.

  • MaryD

I found this on pinterest. Made it for the first time tonight and everyone raved. I added chopped garlic and onion when browning the beef. Delish! Can’t wait to try more of your recipes. Thank you.

  • beth

Sauce definitly needs work. Not creamy or saucy and once the meat is added it kind of becomes a mess. Hardly enough to coat a pound of cooked pasta and a pound of hamburger. I added a bunch of BBQ sauce and that helps. I’ll just stick to my regular homemade cheese sauce when I make it again. If it wasn’t for the BBQ sauce it would be incredibly bland.

  • Marie

Picky kids liked it! Added a little extra garlic powder and increased the milk to a full cup. Thanks!

  • Kelly

This recipe is really good just the way it is. Made this up in no time at all. My husband is a fan. It will be one of my easy go to’s from now on. Being a one pot dish I did miss the veggie element but I can add just about anything to this and have it taste great. Next time I plan on adding chopped up sun dried tomatoes and mushrooms. Thanks for the easy, peasy recipe!

  • Ashtyn

Great Recipe! I cant wait to give it a try!

  • Beth

First time I made this recipe it wasn’t creamy and pretty dry. I made it again, but this time I doubled the sauce ingredients and rather than using milk, I used evaporated milk. Perfectly creamy and lots of sauce!
